If you’ve attended my talk for the REIT - well done. I hate to think how I come across at first encounter. I’m very passionate about computers and technology and that course is SO compressed and frantic to fit it all in 2 hours. Congratulations on surviving it!
The PDF of the presentation is available here.
As the subject matter changes so much, I am constantly updating the course and every year during the break I do a total re-write. As part of this year's re-write, I am seeking comments and suggestions from agents.
The aim of the course is to introduce students to some important technology issues. It would be impossible in 2 short hours to teach any specific products, but rather I aim to highlight technology (and in particular computer systems) that will be beneficial to student's careers and some issues that can be negative, time wasting and counter productive. I cover roughly 6 good and 6 bad topics.
I am very pleased with the student feedback which is consistently good. As my course is not examined, some students fail to see the relevance, which always amazes me given the industry runs on technology and there are so many agents making poor choices in this area. I did have one student (out of 300+ I've taught) mark me down as "boring" which proves you can't please everyone.
But other than that, I receive few suggestions of topics to include. This is why I am seeking your input.
